I will be publishing useful education resources. it is mainly targeted for kids but do not underestimate how much we have missed or forgot over the years. you actually might find it quit useful.
Bottle Rocket
This one of the coolest Experiments that you can do at home. Today, on the 4th of October 2015. I have setup with the Kids a cola 2 litre bottle with 4 sticks to make sure it can stand still with the bottle opening pointing downwards. all you need then is a cork, vinegar and baking powder. wrap the baking powder in a tissue paper, put 150ml to 250 ml of vinegar in the bottle, then put the tissue with the baking powder then put he cork flip the bottle and run away. it will take few seconds until the pressure buildup and it will shoots off probably 10 m or so.
Few tips,
1 you will need to near the launching pad
2 rather than dropping the rolled baking powder wrap in the bottle, just keep it hanging to cork. this will stop the reaction to start until you flip the bottle
3 you can also double wrap the powder to give your self more time
4 some people use pencils and small water bottles ( 0.5 litre bottles) i would say that s a wise thing to do.
Air Expansion
that’s a straight forward one. all you need is a glass bottle, a balloon, a pan and hot water.
fit the balloon to the bottle nozzle, then place it in the pan with the hot water in. give it few minutes the air will heat up, expands and fill up the balloon. be patient and be careful with the hot water and the kids.
